VOLUNTEERS

I want to encourage you to come in and to participate in your child’s kindergarten experience. Several of you noted your volunteer intentions during our July Summer Assessment sessions. The PTA will be sending home another volunteer form soon to affirm those intentions and/or to encourage more to participate. If you cannot be a regular volunteer, do not worry! When you can plan for a free day, simply write me a note informing me of your availability and I will do my best to “get you a spot” on the calendar. It is helpful to know ahead of time of your intentions so that I can plan for you! Many hands provides for many good additional opportunities for academic support as well as classroom fun! Thanks for sharing your time! Hope to see you sometime this year! I value volunteer help!

PERSONAL FAMILY INFORMATION

I feel very fortunate to have a most loving husband and two fabulous children. My husband’s name is Herman and he is a native-born citizen of Charlottesville, Virginia. He would be pleased that I mentioned his heritage. Anybody that knows him would understand this humorous connection. Just check out our cars’ license plates! Herman is my best friend and is a consistent, loving supporter of all that I hope to accomplish.

Our son, Joshua graduated from the University of Virginia as a Systems Engineer. Josh works for BECHTEL Power Corporation and is currently assigned to BECHTEL’s power plant site in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We love him dearly and we miss him, but he seems very happy. It is always special when he can make his way home for family events!

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY/CONTACT INFORMATION

Welcome to Middletown Primary School! I am Joanne Wheeler, kindergarten team leader. You and your children are in for a wonderful experience back here in our kindergarten wing! Teaching full-day kindergarten brings many exciting opportunities for both teacher and student. Having taught half-day kindergarten for several years, I can attest to the many positive developmental results that can be obtained for students as a direct correlation to the increased amount of time spent in the kindergarten program. My teammates bring much experience to the program and they are all wonderful child-centered professionals! I believe that your child is in for a fabulous year!

Our school’s mission statement “It’s a Great Place to Come and Learn!” reflects our sincerest efforts here at Middletown Primary School (MPS) to provide for a very meaningful and positive learning environment. We hope by year’s end that you will affirm that we have indeed met this goal to make learning fun and effective!
